Living Out Loud

Carol here,
Living Out Loud
This morning, that phrase, living out loud hit me while catching a James Taylor and Carole King special on public television. Talk about a flashback — it was the ultimate soul food. But as an almost-74-year-old, I didn't find myself longing for the "good old days." I found myself celebrating the present. I became deeply aware of exactly where I am right now, and how every single shift I have made to my life has brought me to this exact moment.
Lean in, this is where it gets good.
What I know about myself so far:
I've always been a leader — I'm the oldest of seven
I've been a bit of a rule breaker, a true '70s child
I love to laugh, and I love putting a smile on someone else's face
I know that small changes can change everything
I was built to show up for people
So, what the heck is my message today? Good question. Reading back over that list, I realize it's really just proof that I'm an optimist — glass half full, every time.
I began writing this morning because of music that inspired me to be present and open to my what. And I wanted to share that with you.
I say: get curious about yourself. Find a moment, grab a pen and a piece of paper, and jot down your what.
Why? Because those words on the paper don't just remind you who you are — they prove it.
Come as you are, and leave a little different. And I did.
